With his personal history, Carlo Tosi is generally considered as the goblet "maestro", indelebly related with lightness in Murano traditional glass.
The nickname
The name “Caramea” is the dialect form of the word “caramella” and it means candy, delicate as the light glasses of Carlo Tosi; his nickname was linked to the light, refined goblets blown by Carlo and representing the most classic and exquisite tradition of Murano.
Many of the best master glassmakers were schooled by Carlo Tosi: Davide Fuin, Sergio Tiozzo, Bertino "Geremia", Marino Santi, Roberto Finotto and others; for every master glassblower it is a priviledge and an honour to see "Caramea" at work and to learn from him.
In the past and now every Venetian family considers to have goblets signed by “Caramea” as a sign of style.
