BRUNO BAROVIER
Photographer and painter

Bruno Barovier was born on the
island of Murano in 1951.
He has always cultivated his interest
in photography, and in 1980 he
opened the first studio on Murano
for professional photographs of
Murano glass. In 2000 Barovier
began to work in digital format
and it did not take him much time to
realize the enormous possibilities
that this medium allowed in the
photo elaboration process.
In 2003 he began to show his
work in and around Venice, and
then in late 2004, he perfected
his personalized technique of
printing his images onto canvas.
He takes part in every step of the
painstaking realization of each
canvas from the initial framing of
the shot, to the development and
elaboration of the image, right
up to the printing onto cotton
canvas, followed by application
of special paints which give these
works the particular appeal of “oil
on canvas”. All materials used are
natural: the colours are all waterbased,
the canvas is 100% cotton,
the frame is in untreated wood,
and even the paints are based on
the Middle Eastern dammar tree
resin which has been diluted in
the essential oil from the maritime
pine.

ABOUT ME:

Ho sempre cercato e trovato dentro
di me il modo di esprimermi con il
colore attraverso i miei quadri e con
il vetro dandogli delle forme a volte acerbe
e a volte morbide. Il connubio tra le
due diverse forme di espressività è
accresciuto con il tempo sino a diventare
un tutt'uno. I piaceri, il frastuono del presente,
l'io di adesso, la conoscenza del passato si
alternano tra il quotidiano e il primitivo;
quasi un'altalena che ancora mi vede
scivolare da una sponda all'altra cercando
di dare sempre nuovi significati al presente
e a quello che l'umanità attraverso
diverse culture ha percepito come vita.
