Venetian mask history
We can read about a "maschereri" (master mask makers in the venetian dialect)
school located in Venice since the 1271.
The wearing of masks and costumes
was well establishedin the 15th century and in the 1436 the maskmakers were
officially recognized by the Repulic with their guild.
The classic Venetian masks were made with clay models, plaster, chalk mould
, paper maché, flour glue, and gauze. Than the raw mask were hand painted
and decorated with gold leaf, enamels and varnish to achieve a specific
texture with several gradients on translucent surfaces.
With the same techiques and material we produced now our classic collection,
a very wide selection of the most traditional venetian masks
